Game UI Design

Spring 2024

When creating this set of UI screens, I wanted to convey the "cyberpunk-esk" feeling of the game that I envisioned. This gave me the idea to use blocky lettering and add some glitchy details to some of the text and images included. It also inspired the screen-like filter over the screens as well as the HUD being a little more "ingame" than other game HUDs would be.

I wanted all the numbers and icons to be clear for the player to understand, so that they could easily pick out what each icon meant and how their progress with those icons was going. This translates to the "Mission Success" screen when a level is completed.

This project was a fun one that challenged me to think past just the gameplay and dive a little deeper into the player's experience with menus and with keeping track of what they need within a game. It aided with giving me an eye for detail and what is and is not good game design UI-wise.
